Catch a cab and get the most out of taxi media
Unlike 'the knowledge' used as a term for London Cabby's mastering their art, it seems we have very little understanding of one of the biggest vehicle advertising opportunities in recent years.
Taxi advertising now means that you can now advertise on the side, back and front of a taxi, have a full wrap and even advertise on LCD screens and video in the cab itself. There is a whole new world to cab advertising and the average guy on the street can be oblivious to its appeal.
The great thing about interior advertising in taxis, is that you have the full attention of the viewer and there is no way out. This is also true for other formats like lift advertising or elevator advertising. This is a huge selling point and the numbers really do add up when you look at quantifying a captive audience.
The average London cabby probably picks up 15-20 customers per day and 90 per week. If you have a campaign of 20 cabs per week, you are reaching an audience of around 1800 customers who are actively looking at displays with sound.
Advertising on the exterior of the vehicles is also very attractive as the viewing figures are even more impressive. OK, you don't have their full attention, but certain campaigns are tailor-made for exterior ads.
Costs for taxi ads do vary from firm to firm and you will have to discuss your main objectives with the appropriate outdoor advertising company to get the best deals.
