Advertisements, or spelled correctly as advertisements, (with the 'e') are any forms of material that aim to promote a product or service at an individual or group. They are mainly designed to increase the sales and consumption of the product or services through the creation of brand loyalty or brand image. Advertisements can be done by the use of major medium like the magazines, cinema, radio, newspapers, television, billboards, video games, and Internet.
All advertisements consist of a product or service with a convincing message to attract a target audience or a medium. For us to be able to appreciate today's advertising and visualize tomorrow's advertising, it is important no know how it was originated and how it has evolved as time goes by.
It all started during the ancient Egyptian era. It was during that time that Egyptians used papyrus for wall posters as their advertising medium. It was during that same time that Ancient Rome used rock paintings for their political campaigns. In 1920's advertisements went technical with the rise of the first radio stations.
In the year 1985, the major advertising media used were the radio, newspapers, magazines, and television. It was clear that these are the most famous advertising media back then.

It started when the World Wide Web was introduced in the year 1991. It was designed mainly as an easy-access forum that can be used for industries to market and sell their products. It was on that same year that online advertising became popular and began to boom. During the year 2001, it continued to grow and outstanding companies like Yahoo, American Online, Microsoft and Amazon had gotten around 125-442 million viewers. The idea then came, that Internet advertising will hit the world market without any joke, and viewers will be continuing to grow in number.
Up until now, internet advertising has become the biggest form of advertising media either for the small or big companies all over the world. In fact, top search engines like the Yahoo, MSN, and Google make billions of dollars just because of internet advertising.
The internet proves to be the most flexible as you can convey it in text, image, audio, or video format. One of the striking potentials of internet advertisements is that they can be free. It can basically be considered a combination of all the previous mediums so those concepts ultimately apply.
Another popular way of advertising in the internet is the video games advertising, which has recently been taken to a whole new level by incorporating the same advertising mediums the internet utilized and placing them into video games to grab attention of the ever-growing gaming community. With its success in blending well and at the same time keeping the gaming experience enjoyable, we expect to see more creative uses of gaming advertisements in the future to attract an entirely different crowd - gamers.

Although advertisments had its huge history and the basic concepts remained the same throughout the years and have continued to evolve in both style and message.
