Television Advertising is one of those media advertising formats that are often seen as the rich media, in terms of advertising costs and additional expense due to production and design requirements.

However, TV advertising does have tremendous benefits to small and medium sized businesses alike and you should at least explore the options in great detail.

One thing you must not do is under estimate the complex workings of television advertising. It is not just about choosing a station and creating an ad, it is also about using very targeted marketing techniques and visual expertise to get the message across to the audience you are looking for.

There are a number of production companies out there that can provide facilities for Direct response television advertising. When you see a day time advert from a loan company, it has usually been created, designed and executed by a team of producers and directors from a professional company.

Prices usually start at around £10,000 or so for the production of the advert and then the TV advertising rates will be around £1200 - £1500 ($2400 or $3000) per 30-second slot, to run it on a station itself.

Of course, these prices do vary, depending on the size of the audience and whether you are showing the advert across a network of many regions in the case of ITV, for example. Obviously, there are discounts if you book a series of advertisements - and as with any other advertising media you should always look at the exercise as giving you a good return on investment.
