Contextual advertising

What is contextual advertising? It is all about displaying adverts.....

Contextual Advertising

So, if you do a search on one of the major search engines for say mp3 players or spectroscopic instruments, (a consumer and business related search) you will see adverts which match your chosen search based on the keywords entered.

This whole system originates from an idea in the mid-nineties based on personal profiling - a technique which used a cookie to work out and match the surfing habits of individuals with relevant advertising. It turns out (and no surprise here) that most internet users did not want to be profiled in this way and so the new form of contextual advertising based on the content of the page was introduced.

Of course, a lot of publishers and website owners are now making a lot of money using these contextually based services like Google adsense and other products from different providers. Basically, the publisher of the website takes a cut of the advertising fee paid by the advertiser and then the rest will go to the provider of the service.

With this system it seems that the service providers (like google) as well as the advertisers, website owners and people viewing the web pages are all feeling quite positive. This is because the surfers see relevant content within the ads to match the content on the page and everyone else gets paid - a great solution all round.

Myadbase offers a ppc management service (pay per click) for any company who would like to outsource their ppc campaigns on Google adwords and other systems. Pay per click advertising uses this contextual advertising format to display adverts.
